Sunset Beach

Sometimes wonderful things come in small packages and so it is with the diminutive, yet breathtaking island of Sunset Beach.  Only three miles in lenght, Sunset Beach is every inch a beautiful respite from the harried pace of the "outside" world. Once you go over the bridge and onto the island, vistiors are attracted to the spectacular shoreline and the roar of the ocean.

Families love to come to this island to enjoy the cluster of pastel beach cottages nestled deeply behind the slope of dunes.  Sunset Beach offers a breath taking shoreline nicely juxtapsed against the excellent restaurants, interesting shops and championship golf courses and tennis, which all are fully accessible right across the bridge on the mainland side.  Another attraction is the Ingram Planetarium "where the stars always shine".  The Planetarium has the world's third SciDome HD digital projection system.

When visiting Sunset Beach you are only a few miles from the famous Calabash, where the famous Calabash Seafood was originated.  Sunset Beach is located half way between Wilmington, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
